A round-robin tournament created by the Czech Ice Hockey Union, the Pragobanka Cup has been played for since 1994 by the top European national teams. It is played in Zlin, Czech Republic during late August and early September. In the short history of the tournament, the Czechs have dominated, winning three of four gold medals. They were only upset in 1997 when there was a three-way tie for first between Finland, Sweden and the Czechs. Finland won the gold medal by having the best goals-for/goals-against ratio. The Czech Republic settled for silver in their only defeat thus far.
