The Lethbridge Maple Leafs of Canada posted a perfect 6-0 record to earn the gold medal. Another six teams competed for the European championship at the same time, though in a 'B' division that precluded the possibility of winning a medal. The Canadians outscored the opposition 62-6, including 5-1 wins over Sweden and Switzerland. Other victories included a 16-2 hammering of the United States, 17-1 demolition of Great Britain, an 11-0 win over Finland, and an 8-0 victory over Norway. The team was led by the high-flying line of Billy Flick, Den Flanagan, and Mickey Roth from the K-W Dutchmen and was buoyed by the superb goaltending of Mallie Hughes
