As Canada's representatives, the Saskatoon Quakers were not only after gold but revenge as well. The European teams continued to compete at international tournaments, but still none could match the skill and speed of the North Americans. Canada beat Switzerland 2-1 and the US won 3-0 over Germany to set up the anticipated final. The Canadians reclaimed their position as World Champions by a 2-1 score. In reaching the gold medal contest, Canada beat Germany 6-0 and France 9-0, before edging the Swiss 2-1 in the semi-finals.
