Tampere, Finland was the site of the 1992 Women's World tournament and again Canada was the favourite entering the competition. Similar to Ottawa two years previous, Canada breezed through the round-robin, allowing only one goal against. After a semi-final victory over Finland, another gold medal match-up was set with the United States. The Canadians dominated the game by a score of 8-0, capturing their second consecutive official Women's World Championship. Geraldine Heaney won the Directorate award as the Top Defenseman in the tournament and was also named to the All-Star team. Joining her on the All-Star team were goaltender Manon Rheaume, who allowed only 2 goals against and forward Angela James, who finished the tournament with seven points. Also starring for Canada was forward Danielle Goyette, who tied American Cammi Granato for the tournament lead in points with ten.
