Winner's Photo

This was the first major international competition played outside the Olympics. The format saw teams eliminated with each game they played, leading to a showdown with the powerful Canadians who received a bye to the finals. This schedule was the result of poor ice conditions that forced the tournament to be put back four days and necessitating a quicker method of elimination. The Germans beat the Swiss 2-1 in the qualifying finals but were beaten 6-1 for gold by the Canadians, represented by the Toronto Canadas. This Canadian team has the distinction of winning gold by playing just one game. The roster consisted of Percy Timpson, Fred Radke, Joe Griffin, Bert Clayton, Alex Park, Gord Grant, Wally Adams, Don Hutchinson, and Harold Armstrong.
