IIHF Men's Junior Under 20 World Hockey Championships
For the first time ever a world hockey championship was held on Canadian soil when Winnipeg and Brandon, Manitoba played host to the second unofficial World Junior Championships in 1975. The gold medal was not decided until the final game of the tournament when the Soviets beat Canada 4-3 and won the title again. Bryan Trottier (five goals and two assists) starred for the Canadian junior team, though the top scorer was Dale McMullin who had three goals and five assists and was named to the tournament All-Star Team at forward along with Soviet players Boris Alexandrov and Viktor Khatulev (who was also named the Best Player at the event). Following the Soviets and Canada on the medal trail was Sweden, who won the bronze.
