Ken Broderick helped provide the Canadian National Team with solid goaltending from 1963-64 until 1967-68, usually in tandem with either Seth Martin or Wayne Stephenson. He was a backup to Martin at the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics when a controversial change to the tie-breaking format dropped Canada into fourth place, but was the top goaltender ahead of Stephenson at Grenoble in 1968 when the Canadians earned an Olympic bronze medal.
In addition to his Olympic appearances, Broderick also tended goal for Canada at the World Championships in 1965 and 1966. Sharing duties with Martin in 1966, Broderick allowed just two goals in three games for a 0.66 goals-against average as the Canadian team took home a silver medal. Following his stint with the National Team, Broderick played briefly in the NHL with the Minnesota North Stars and Boston Bruins. |
