| Eric Lindros played on two gold medal-winning teams at the World Junior Championships and was a member of Canada's 1991 Canada Cup-winning squad as an 18-year-old prior to signing with the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers. He contributed three goals and two assists in eight games that year as Canada beat the United States in the finals of the tournament. Lindros was only a minor contributor to Canada's 1990 World Junior Championship, but collected six goals and 11 assists to finish second in tournament scoring (behind Doug Weight) in 1991 and earned a spot on the tournament All-Star Team. Lindros was again a member of Canada's World Junior Team in 1992, captaining a squad that finished a disappointing sixth. He redeemed himself later in the year with the Canadian Olympic team, scoring five goals and adding six assists in eight games as Canada earned a silver medal in its best Olympic performance since 1960 and its first trip to the medal podium since 1968.In 1993, Lindros played for Team Canada at the World Championships and led the tournament in goals (11) and points (17) to earn accolades as Best Forward and an All-Star despite Canada's fourth-place finish. Lindros later represented his country at the World Cup of Hockey in 1996 and was captain of Canada's Olympic Team at Nagano in 1998.Lindros returned to the Olympics in 2002 and helped Canada win gold. |
