He was second among New Jersey defensemen with 24 assists, third with 29 points, in his rookie NHL season of 1984-85 ... Established a Devils record for goals in game by defenseman, recording hat-trick versus the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 31, 1984 ... First player of German origin to play in the NHL (Karl Friesen, who came from Germany and also played for the Devils, was born in Canada) ... Played three years in the NHL (143 games, 19 goals and 54 assists for 73 points) ... Came back to Germany in 1987...Joined Dusseldorfer EG...Won a national champion title with Kolner EC (1983-84) and five titles with Dusseldorfer EG (1990 to 1993 and 1996) ... In 14 seasons in the Bundesliga, he played 697 games, scored 202 goals and added 364 assists for 566 points.
