Barry MacKenzie had been a member of Father David Bauer's Memorial Cup-winning St. Michael's College team in 1961 and joined Father Bauer's Canadian National Team in 1964. He played at the Olympics that year and later represented Canada again at the World Championships in 1965, 1966, and 1967, earning a bronze medal in both 1966 and 1967. In 1968, MacKenzie earned another bronze medal at the Winter Games in Grenoble.
Like most of the Canadian National Team's defenseman, MacKenzie never scored a lot of points but was solid in his own end. After his international experience he played one season of professional hockey and spent six games in the NHL with the Minnesota North Stars in 1968-69. |
