Born August 16, 1941 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Defenseman Barry MacKenzie played his junior hockey at St. Michael's College under the coaching of Father David Bauer and later the two were reunited when MacKenzie joined Canada's National Team for the 1963-64 season. He represented his country at the 1964 Olympic Winter Games that same season in Innsbruck, finishing fourth in Olympic ranking and third in IIHF World Championship ranking. MacKenzie also suited up for Canada in the 1965, 1966 and 1967 IIHF World Championships, capturing the bronze again in both the '66 and '67 tournaments. In the 1968 Olympic Winter Games with Team Canada, he won his only Olympic medal - a bronze. The following season he turned pro and played briefly for the Minnesota North Stars in the NHL.
