Tore Johannessen


Born on April 2, 1922, in Norway. Tore Johannessen distinguished himself as an International referee after his playing career with Hockey Club Ready. Johannessen took part in a total of eight IIHF sanctioned events that comprised of both World Championship and Olympic tournaments. He was Vice-President of the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association from 1950 to 1952 and from 1955 to 1956. From there he went on to become the youngest president in any Norwegian Sports Association in 1956 at the age of thirty-four. He held that position until 1964 and in between was the manager of the Norwegian National Team in the 1962 IIHF World Championship in Colorado Springs. Johannessen was given the responsibility of General Secretary during the IIHF World Championship in 1958 and the B Pool in 1989. As a tribute to his work, the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association has made him an Honorary Member.
