Igor Dimitriev


Born on October 19, 1941. Igor Dimitriev began his career in 1958 with the Soviet Wings appearing in 430 league games and scoring 126 times. He also played from 1973 - 1976 winning two national titles. Upon retirement, he started his coaching career, first as an assistant with the Soviet Wings in 1978 and then working up to the head coaching job in 1983. In 1987 he was added to the national team coaching staff and went on to coach at numerous World Championships and Canada Cup and Olympic events. He passed away on December 21, 1997.
