Arne Strömberg


Arne Strömberg was born June 20, 1920 in Stockholm and died in February 1988. He served as Sweden's National Team coach between 1961 and 1971 and guided his country to the 1962 IIHF World Championship title and five silver medal finishes. At the 1964 Olympic Winter Games, Strömberg coached Sweden to a silver medal and a forth place finish at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games. He also coached Switzerland and Norway at IIHF World Championship tournaments. Strömberg was one of the first coaches in Europe to open summer ice hockey schools for young players.
