Bob Lebel


Bob Lebel was born September 21, 1905 in Quebec City, Canada. He was a man who devoted many years to ice hockey as a player, but mainly at the organizational and administrative level. Lebel served as President of the Quebec Amateur Hockey Association between 1955-1957 and then the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association from 1957-1959. He was elected President of the International Ice Hockey federation in 1960 and served one term until 1963. In 1964, Lebel was named a Life Member of both QAHA and CAHA. He represented the later body on the Governing Committee of the Hockey Hall of Fame in Canada where he was inducted as a builder in 1970. He is now a Senior Life Member of the Canadian Hockey Association. Bob Lebel is an extremely honorable man and played a significant role with regard to the growth and development of ice hockey in Canada and in the world. He is the former Mayor of Chambley, Quebec. He was inducted to the IIHF Hall of Fame within the builders' category in 1997.
