Gustav Jaenecke


Gustave Jaenecke was born on May 22, 1908 in Berlin, Germany. He played for the German National Team from 1927 to 1939 and saw action at three Olympics (winning a bronze in 1932) and at eight World Championships (silver in 1930, bronze in 1932 and 1934). Jaenecke played on gold medal-winning teams at the European Championships in 1930 and 1934, and bronze medal winners in 1927, 1933, 1936, 1938 and 1939. A distinguished tennis player as well, Jaenecke won the German title in tennis in 1932, and played five times at the Davis Cup. Gustave Jaenecke died in May 1985.
