Gyorgy Pasztor


Born on March 2, 1923 in Torokbalint, Hungary. Gyorgy Pasztor has over 60 years experience in ice hockey as a player, official, delegate and IIHF Council Member. Pasztor began his playing career in 1937 and won six national championship titles before retiring from active playing in 1959. He was a national team player for 18 years between 1941 and 1959. Pasztor has also been the proud recipient of the Athlete of the Year Award in Hungary. He was a Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation delegate during IIHF Congress meetings between 1959 and 1982, after which his peers elected him as an IIHF Council Member. Pasztor was a member of the IIHF Medical Committee from 1971 until 1994, and served as chairman of that committee from 1982 till 1994. Gyorgy Pasztor's other responsibilities include membership in the Hungarian Olympic Committee, Chairman of the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation from 1960 to 1989 and Vice President from 1989 to 1994. Gyorgy Pasztor was elected as an IIHF Honorary Member in 1994.
