Valeri Kharlamov


Valeri Kharlamov was born on January 14, 1948 and died in 1981. He made his debut with the National Team at the 1969 World and European Championships. Kharlamov participated at the 1972, 1976 and 1980 Olympics and 11 World and European Championships from 1969 to 1980. He was a world champion in 1969, 1970, 1971, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979. Kharlamov earned Best Forward honours at the World and European Championships in 1976 and was voted to the tournament All-Star Team in 1972, 1973 and 1976. He starred in the historic Canada-Russia Summit Series of 1972 and was a member of one of the best lines in the history of hockey along with Boris Mikhailov and Vladimir Petrov.
