Jim Craig


Born on May 3, 1957 in North Easton, Massachusetts, USA. Goaltender Jim Craig backstopped the 1980 U.S. Olympic Men's ice hockey team to its historic gold medal at the 1980 Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid, USA. During that tournament, Craig only allowed sixteen goals against in seven games and posted an amazing 2.29 goals against average en route to an undefeated record of six victories and one tie. Craig continued his playing career and turned professional immediately after the Olympic achievement joining the Atlanta Flames of the NHL. He went on to play with the Boston Bruins and the Minnesota North Stars as well as the Erie Blades of the American Hockey League and finally with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles of the Central Hockey League. Jim Craig took part in the 1979 IIHF World Senior Championship Pool A and the 1983 IIHF World Senior Championship Pool B where he won a gold medal and was a tournament all-star, which helped lead his country back to Pool A competition.
